(I kick one game habit, and another comes up. Luckily, this one is less accessible.)

My old high school buddies and I recently dusted off our 10-year-old Magic: The Gathering cards. We've had a blast getting together and reliving the late 90's with these things.

Has anyone here ever played Magic? Do you still have your cards, and maybe even still play?

I welcome you to enjoy the nostalgia and get back into the game. Let's use this thread to post card "Want Lists" and set up trades. If you're in the North Jersey area, contact me if you want to join our occasional casual group games.

Heck, we could play online with our real cards by using video streaming like Stickam, UStream or iChat. A multiplayer game like that would be a blast. Voice chat among the group, and text chat among teammates. A couple web cams on the table.

Ah, old school games with new school technology. Who wants in?

I got suckered in, during my first term of university. I gave it up before I amassed a very large number of cards, though. I still have them, sitting around somewhere. I doubt I'll ever pick them up again -- there's just so many other things to do.

I used to work at a comic book and gaming store. When Magic first came out, one of the other guys who worked there and I bought a bunch of packs at a steep discount because no one was buying them. We played it a few times and had a little fun, then didn't think about it again until it exploded. I ended up selling the 150 or so cards (Unlimited Edition, IIRC) I had for a huge profit.

I played AD&D in high school and Magic came out right about when I went off to college. I always thought Magic was dumb, being primarily based on how much you spend on cards and secondarily on how good a player you are. Of course all the AD&D players started not having any time to play AD&D because they were playing Magic instead, so I gave up on both of them and started playing beer pong instead.

I played, but only with other peoples decks. I loved the computer based game though. Too bad XP wasn't compatible.

Oh, and I preferred a red-black deck, as well.

I spent a non-trivial part of 1995 playing Magic, but thankfully found other pursuits before dropping too much of my money. I tended to play with a black and blue deck, although I also had a blue-green one that I was working on.

Ah, we've had our time with the game. Good to hear. I got most all of my cards as hand-me-downs from my friends, and made 5 decks that I still have. Red-Green direct damage is my favorite deck!

If you still have your cards from those early days, they may be worth a good amount of money. Six of my cards alone retail for a total of $270, when I paid nowhere near that 10 years ago.

Check out StarCityGames.com for card resale, or try eBay. Sell out now while the market is still hot... like it's been for 15 years.

I still want to set up online play via webcam. That would be fun.
