has anyone been able to get trio to work on a wireless network. I have my server and two rios connected to a hub and a wireless bridge in my computer room, then two rios connected to my wireless router. the only wireless part of my set up is to link these two "networks" They are all on the same work group etc. When I string a wire between the two of them it works fine. I am just wondering if it is a known problem that trio doesn't work over the a wireless network or if I have something set up incorrectly.

Thanks for the help.

Setup:
Server Win 2k
D-Link router
2 d-link 910+ wireless bridges
Right now with ARM 1.4
Hopefully soon
TRio 0.1.4alpha4

I am using a RIO with a Linksys wireless access point with no problems. I can take the unit out by the pool and it works great!

Are you using the software that came with it or TRio with the java front end? When I try to get it to work with TRio it tells me that it can't find the server on the network after it boots up. I will post logs etc, when I get home tonight.

To the best of my knowledge no one has gotten tRio working in a wireless set up. I think its got something to do with the way it multicasts dirty great big chunks of audio data.

I'm putting thought into how to do this better, but it's not going to happen real soon. And so for now I'm afraid you might be lining yourself up for more pain than gain.

That is what I thought, looks like I am just going to have to wire the house. I love the software, and it makes it much easier to use for my fiance.

Thanks, for the great software.

Why don't you give RRR and RioPlay a try? They should both work over wireless (no multicasting), are well written and do internet radio.

I have it working in my setup, but without jreceiver. I have a dlink 712p wireless router, and an SMC wireless to ethernet bridge connected to my rio. I think dlink and linksys both make similar products but market it mainly for the xbox or ps2.

Are people having wireless problems with tRio 0.4 on 802.11g networks?

Given that the network interface on a Rio is 10Mbps, I would have thought that connected to a 54Mbps wireless setup it would be fine. I've been thinking about splashing out on a NetGear wireless bridge (WGE101) for exactly this purpose. Should I hold off?

Thanks

David

To date I've not heard from anyone who has managed to get tRio to work in a wireless set up. I've only heard from folks who have struggled.

The other clients should work fine though.

Cheers

I've got tRio working with 2 units running on wireless bridges - albeit in unicast mode. 6 units running altogether.

linksys wrt54g
linksys wet11
linksys wireless game adapter

xp
jreceiver 2.5
trio 0.4
