i thought i would strike up a quick format discussion here. i have 3 rios and have been using trio and jrec for as long as they have been around. again, paul, trio is awesome.
i a lot of mp3's, call it 20,000. most were ripped from my own collection (about 1500 cd's). some were ripped from the library. the rest were legally downloaded from emusic.com before i cancelled my membership to the service.
- the mp3's from emusic were primarily 128k, but in January or so they switched to vbr, which have an approximate bit rate of about 192.
- all of the mp3's i ripped were at 128k. i know.
So with hd prices way down, i am thinking about (my wife will kill me) going through the 1500 cd's again, a few each night and re-ripping.
so here's the question. what format should i use? i want high quality (i.e. close to lossless) but still want to be able to use my rios as well as my ipod and any other media devices that may come along in the near future.
appreciate the input.
