convert a portable fm tuner to accept the inputs for the car antena, then have rca outputs to plug into the AUX? it shoudlnt be too hard.. ill have to buy one and do some figuring out.. if no one knows right away.. im sure people would be interested as it woudl be a nice alternative for the time being while waiting for the tuners to become avablibe again.. also another thought.. there shoudl be like a pre-order thing for the tuners if its for certain..

Here Here...Pre-orders. Gauge the interest level, bet it's a lot higher with new owners and $410 dollar tuners out there

Why not just get a cheap DIN sized AM/FM/CD which already has the RCA jacks? I'm sure you can get one for just over $100. If you have a double DIN dash slot it works perfect.

Cause some of us are blessed with non japanese, single DIN BMW M3's and have absolutely nowhere to put that second DIN unit

I think I could find someplace to mount a second DIN unit rather than mount an AM/FM Radio hacked to accept the car's antenna or deal with it rolling around loose in my car. Have you thought about under dash or glove box?

I guess if you really wanted to go cheap, you could hook up an AM/FM walkman to your AUX port with a headphone/RCA converter. Get real fancy and you could get a DC converter so you do don't go through batteries.

You miss everything that empeg does with the module though. Hence, why it commands $400+ on eBay.

Thats it......That would be awsome.........they should see if they could get a XM interface instead of the FM module that you can't find for less than $400.... now I would pay $400 for that

It appears you already have a XM tuner, but if money is no object why not pick up this Sony unit?

http://www.xmradio.com/catalog/product_detail.jsp?id=6956&type=Tuner

Although it looks like you would have to mount it on the dash or something (uuugh)

The Pioneer XM receiver on the same web site is "IP bus ready", which means you could probably hack it to feed into the empeg aux in without too many problems (you just need an adaptor don't you?). OK, controlling it would probably need a little more cleverness, but anything is possible - just need someone to write a program to control it over the empeg serial port, and build another small adaptor ...

ok so yha i already havce the pioneer and the sony is ugly as all hell.. ive already tired hooking up the rca INPUT! to ipbus.. it dosnt work the toher way around.. my next move is to try cross wiring it backwars so it dose workk but its not looking promissing.. now hacking the serial is one hell of an idea.. but i wouldnt know where to start.. controllign it woudl be a problem becuase i have a control box that works when the ipbus in inputted.. now having it directly connected to the empeg woudl be the coolest thing ever but i dont see that happing anytime soon just not enough demand for it.. even thou i DEMAND it.. hehe it wont do any good.. if someones willing to help me out ill get them a great deal on an xm tuner/antenna package.. i get big discount on all car audio products for that matter.. jsut a lil incentive or bribe if you will
