I just purchased a broken Empeg where someone tried to resolder the IDE connector and did a real hack job. Some of the pads are gone and the surface mount 44 pin header is destroyed. Does anyone have a source of these headers? A part number? Want to part with one cheap? Also, has anyone figured out where on the board the various 44 pins go? I read that Mark had a similar repair recently where he had to "ohm out" the traces. Is this documented somewhere? I will probably have to use my good Empeg just to follow the traces from the 44 pin header to their termination points, but it would be nice to have this already ( no need risking my working unt!).

Thanks,
Jeff

I just traced the signals as required, but almost all of them originate from a pair of '245 line transceiver chips between the IDE header and the CPU area. If you trace from those chips, you should be able to find all of the signals rapidly.

Thanks Mark!

Any idea where I can get a new surface mount 44 pin header?

This part looks like the right one, though I have not needed to purchase one of them yet: H1792-ND

Cheers
