First power up with one of Patrick's RAM boards installed:

Code:
empeg-car bootstrap v1.02 20001106 ([email protected])
If there is anyone present who wants to upgrade the flash, let them speak now,
or forever hold their peace...it seems not. Let fly the Penguins of Linux!

e000 v1.04

Second power up, going through the RAM test:

Code:
empeg-car bootstrap v1.02 20001106 ([email protected])
If there is anyone present who wants to upgrade the flash, let them speak now,
or forever hold their peace...
0000 empeg-car (issue9) board test version 0.05 <[email protected]>
0100 ram test starting
0110 testing ic 1 (0-15mb, low word)
0120 testing ic 2 (0-15mb, high word)
0101 memory error at c0000000 (00000000!=00000000)
01f0 ram test done
0200 ide detect
0210 command issued
0212 drq=1 but irq=0 (no drive connected?)

...and finally, after going through all of my solder joints, carefully double-checking everything and re-flowing a few possibly questionable joints:

Code:
empeg-car bootstrap v1.02 20001106 ([email protected])
If there is anyone present who wants to upgrade the flash, let them speak now,
or forever hold their peace...it seems not. Let fly the Penguins of Linux!

Here's my question...did I bugger anything up permanently, or do I just need to go over my solder joints again? Just thought I'd ask to see if anybody knew right off the top of their head what I'm up against. Just as an fyi, the unit is a MKIIa that was in sad shape when I found it at an estate sale (believe it or not). Had a fried CS4231A, broken fill nipple on the VFD, and a bad rotary encoder. Fixed all of that save for the CS4231A, so I was just hoping you guys could help me resurrect it fully. I haven't booted it up yet (because it won't, haha) so I honestly don't even know if everything else functions. I'd like to find out, though with my luck I'd get it booted up only to find a fried DSP chip too.
