Thanks to everyone here I was able to install my Empeg in my 2002 VW Jetta with Monsoon package. The install was extremely easy. My stock unit had a Monsoon HU with a CD player installed directly above. Monsoon AMP with 8 speaker upgrade package. I wanted to replace the stock CD player with the Empeg. I discovered a site at www.rcainput.com which sells a cable which fools the HU into thinking that the CD player is still installed when you press the CD button. The cable plugs right into the back of the HU and ends with two RCA cables and a Ground cable. The Empeg sled fits perfectly in the space vacated by the CD player. I then spliced off the Memory, + 12 constant, and grounded the sled. Amazingly enough, that's about it. It's working great!!
Even the cup holder still works properly!
Here's a few pics to show you the before and after.

Thanks again everyone.

Sweet pics. Now you need to swap the position of the two devices so you can still operate the empeg when the cup holder is open.

Really! Boy, that looks nice. Wonder what the chances are that I can transplant a Jetta dashboard into a Subaru?!?

I had thought about switching them, but it looks like the volume dial on the HU sticks out a little too much. The dial on the Empeg just barely clears it.

Do you have an Mk2 or Mk2a? The dial on the Mk2a sticks out less.

By the way, your install is very neat. Excellent job!

Which is exactly what I (well Cambridge Car Audio) did !

It works fine, although my HU is a slighty different model to yours the volume knobs looks exactly the same.

Sorry no pics yet everyone ... in the pipeline.

It's an Mk2a. I ordered it from the sonicblue web site about 2 weeks ago. 30 gig.
