I just discovered a site that sells kits to interface aftermarket CD changers to many OEM stereos what have _some_ sort of CD changer or auxiliary input. They seem to be generic enough to handle an empeg, and they seem to carry models for quite a few vehicles.

Anyway, the brand name is Peripheral, and their web site is here. Perhaps you might their site useful.

I'm seriously considering going this route with my 2000 Subaru Outback. I went ahead and got the "upgraded" system with upgraded speakers and powered subwoofer. It actually sounds rather good for an OEM system, relatively speaking of course. Also, it's a leased vehicle so at the time I figured I wouldn't want to install a bunch of equipment. Anything I can do to minimize my "reversion" cost (in time and $$) is good for now. Maybe when I get closer to the lease end, and I know for sure I'll keep the car, I'll splurge on a new amp and speakers...
