OK. This one's probably already been done, but a quick search didn't turn anything up (of course, I'm bound to have missed the obvious keywords!), so here goes:

I would like a stats visual, showing all of the following (assuming they're available) on screen at the same time:

+ Time
+ CPU utilisation
+ Cache status
+ Disk status
+ Bit rate
+ Internal temperature
+ Current song or playlist title/length/position
+ Simple level meter

And, of course it should move them all around from time to time to avoid burn in!

Simple?

Nick.

Maybe it's nice to know that some of this information is going to be available through the web-pages of displayserver ( memory info, process list, temp ).
Additional features :
- playlist browsing.
- download of mp3
- streaming mp3's through m3u files
- Access control
- fixed IR-kernel patch

Available for download at the end of the week...

Frank...you never cease to amaze. And since you don't.... i thought i'd make a request. How hard would it be for you to make the install of displayserver include a menu system to activate displayserver from the player interface? I'm not to up on init scripts and the like, and having to hook up the serial connection and all that when i wanna start display server is a biatch. I know i could implement this myself with effort, but it would be another kick ass feature of something that's already kick ass. =]

Thanks for all the efforts you're putting into this! It amazes everyone i show!

In reply to:

+ Bit rate

Can I add to this that I'd like to see a scrolling graph of the bitrate usage as the song progresses? Perhaps a pixel per second horizontally, and 32/40/48/56/64/80/96/112/128/160/192/224/256/320/400 as the vertical axis (this is still only 16 pixels high). I'm always curious to see what sections VBR has needed to move to higher bit rates for.

I nth the stats visual.
