Hi all, didn't see any other posts for a similar idea, so ....

How about having the volume button (mk2 only - sorry) have a context sensitive menu? I'm thinking about something similar to the right-click on Windoze.

As a starter for ten:

When playing a .mp3 -> Volume Button gives the following options:
-> songs by artist
-> songs by album name
-> songs by genre
-> songs by year
(all of which would be virtual playlists - similar to the functions on the remote).

This could be a side-scrolling menu, so could be controlled by the wheel.

This has more of a web paradigm to it, since linking could be the greatest asset for the empeg - remember that it's got ALL of your music on it.

Thoughts?

Paul.

Bad form to reply to my own post, but anyway...

No thoughts? Not even : "That Sucks"

I'd have thought that this would be a lot of use and infintely more interesting than the boring old, bass/treble/volume switcher.

Imagine the demo possibilities - You can do all of this cool stuff, plus look at how easily you can generate 'mood' lists - all without the remote or a computer - ... .'Wow'!

Oh well.

Paul.

I missed this thread the first time around -- thanks for the reminder. Excellent idea, mainly for those of us who are feeding the Empeg into a head unit. Most people who are using their Empeg as a head unit to control volume are going to want the knob to control volume. I always leave mine at 0dB, so your idea would be great.

Sorry, I should have been clearer! this isn't mean't to replace volume! After you've *pressed* the button - you then get the context menu.

I couldn't live without the volume knob...

Yes, that does make much more sense -- and I still agree this is a great idea. What's everyone else think? (hearing crickets chirping in the night...)
