I don't know if its just me, but I have noticed that pressing the "next song" button to move through songs in a playlist and holding that button, the movement from song to song goes much slower than it did in the prior software releases. I used to be able to fly through my playlist, now it flies through 3 songs, then slows down, then speeds up, but in total, its much slower than before.

I think that "holding the button" activates "Fast Forward" within the current track, not "move quickly" through playlist.

EDIT: or did you really mean "when navigating under the playlist submenus" ?

I mean when you select an entire playlist to play. There is a set of buttons that allows you to fast forward and rewind through a song and there is a set of buttons that allows you to go to the next or previous song. I used to be able to press the "next song" button repeatedly to go through songs, or just keep it pressed to go through the songs very quickly. Now if I leave it pressed it goes through the songs, but slowly. I have the empeg remote control, I don't know how different it functions compared to the rio remote control.

There's no such thing as an "empeg remote". Did you mean, the "kenwood KCA-R6A remote" ??

Thanks

If you did mean "Kenwood remote", I also have one here, and just verified the same behaviour. But this is with a Hijack kernel.

Perhaps behavior is different without Hijack installed? That's actually quite possible for those two buttons, but I'm not 100% sure if that is the case here.

Cheers

Yes, I meant the Kenwood remote. I've read about kernels but have not been able to research them to know exactly what they are-- although I believe they have something to do with the programming language used in linux used to run the player. I was starting to think the slow movement might of just been my imagination, but I'm glad to see you experienced a similar effect and it wasn't just me. Thanks for your assistance in confirming this.

I did a little research and have learned what the kernel is. I have not installed the hijack kernel in my player, so I really don't think its the hijack kernel which causes the inconsistent speed of moving through songs. By the way mlord, now that I have done some research, and realize who you are and have checked out your Hijack web page, I have to say thanks for your work with linux and for your time in creating such a great add-on for the empeg and I can't wait to install it in my player this weekend.

Oh good, then it's not a side effect of Hijack. Nice to know that!

Adding Hijack to your player takes only a couple of minutes, mostly while waiting for the slow serial data transfer to complete. You'll be pleased with both the process and the outcome.

Cheers

Does the behavior of your Kenwood remote, when running the version 2.0 beta 11 player firmware, behave correctly according to this guide?

Note: I do not have the "Info: Seek Tool" behaviors entered into that button guide yet. The behaviors in that guide should only count for the screens other than "Info: Seek Tool".

Yeah, works fine. Just the auto-repeat on "next/prev track" is very slow.

Yes, my remote control functions as described in that guide.
