Carry cases available at Radio Shack??? - 29/06/2007 00:25

I was browsing at the local RS and noticed a carry case that should work well for an Empeg. It's a padded case that is intended for portable DVD players. Same kind of padding that softside laptop carriers have.

Ha!
I knew gbeer is American, so I thought, "What is he doing snooping around on the RS website?
Then I read Radio Shack... not Radiospares.

RS is great. You can buy all the pieces necessary to create pretty much anything. It'll just cost a fortune to do

It's better than their last slogan: "You've got questions; we've got answers", which is a blatant lie. It was usually edited by customers as "You've got questions; we've got blank stares". Which is too bad, really, as it used to be a decent place to get electronics components. Now it's the place if you want cheap Chinese-built RC toys and cell phones. Oh, and there's some low-quality electronics stuff in the back.

There is a similar chain here in the UK called Maplin which have deteriorated in the exactly the same way. Never could get a decent answer out of the sales people tho. Their level of technical expertise extended to replacing the fuse. Counting or reading the label on a box was never a requirement for getting a job there either.

Ah, you need to learn to spot the electrical engineering students... I'm an electronics noob so they've been able to help me out with simple circuit designs etc.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to re-link one of the greatest Radio Shack stories ever told. By our very own Patrick Arnold...

I might get kicked off the BBS for this... I have been using one of my empeg cases to carry a portable DVD player for years now. It fits perfect!
