I have updated my mp3tool utility today.

The new version now calculates the VBR header framecount and bytecount the same way as lame, so that it will no longer will complain about lame prepared headers. Previously, it used to include the Xing header in those counts, and now it does not.

Latest source & executable (x86) are available from top of the Hijack site.

Cheers

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, it should include the Xing header. I talked with the lame guys quite some time ago to fix the bug in their software that didn't count the Xing header, which confused some mp3 players.

Are you testing against an older version of lame?

lame-3.96.1 here.

And the Xing headers it produces do NOT include the Xing header frame in either the framecount or bytecount fields of the Xing header.

I also added a +/- 1 fuzz factor the the VBR seek table validation code in mp3tool, as their math seems to produce ever so slightly different offsets from what mp3tool calculates, likely due to rounding somewhere.

Cheers

Maybe I'm remembering backwards, but I don't think so, since the problem was that some players seemed to drop the last frame.

Lemme do some research.

I just started to work on the lyrics plugin again and would like to include mp3tool, like for the previous releases of my plugin. Does anyone have a win32 .exe binary or could easily compile one for me of the latest mp3tool? I did try to compile it, but failed.

So, if anyone has that laying around, I'd greatly appreciate if you could send it to me. Otherwise, I'll come back here in a week or so with my compile error and see if anyone can help.

Thanks!
