Greetings!

Hm... That theft note made me start thinking... I am not sure if I have the serial numbers of my players written anywhere useful. Sure, I had them registered on the old developer's site. But it is so out of date that I cannot be sure it is correct, or which player is which. And with the BBS migration to the new server and software, you cannot search before May 2004...

So I am throwing some electrons into the void. Should I ever have a player stolen, I will search for it on the BBS and find this thread.

If anyone else feels like doing the same, it might come in handy under very nasty circumstances when you have to find the numbers in a hurry...

pgrzelak serial numbers

LabRat - 040103263
Hermit - 040104293
Traveller - 040104315
Archive - 030102254

Wow! It is worse than I thought!!! I had to check the players individually to verify these. Just one more to get when it returns from maintenance...

True, but for people with multiple players, that gets a little awkward. If you think I am insane, I know there is someone out there with far more players than I!!!

In any case, it gets a little awkward to put too much in the sig, and I use the graphic version, making it even worse. Still, valid idea.

By the way, what's with the "sig.mp3: File Format not Valid"? I assume you were trying to attach a sound, but that it did not work out well. It has been like that for a while, but I never thought about it before...

Oh, quite likely. I was just doing a "view user's posts" and could only get 200 responses. Searching for what I thought would have worked did not bring up anything sooner. It might be that I used the wrong keywords and just did not find what I was looking for. I have to try again later when my search-foo is a bit stronger...

Hoping to put TM back in my car sooner or later - been without it on the road since Mid October last year. Painful.

Ahh, thats where that limit is. I'll look into getting rid of it, using the normal search lets you get all your posts.

My Empeg's serial is 10101260.

Is the MAC-address important, too?

No. It's derived from the serial number anyway, IIRC.

More recent talk of stolen players... For anyone else who wants to put their serial number in a location that's easy to find (for everyone) just add a reply to this thread.

I don't recall another registry. Maybe Tom could add something to the riocar pages.

I wish that registry was easy for us to edit. Without an original registration number you cannot edit you entry, such as to change the car it is installed in. I haven't kept mine over the last 4 years...

Unfortunately *anyone* can enter information in that form. On the BBS you have to be registered (yourself) to enter a post.

That implies that you leave your empeg in your car. Isn't that how these things get stolen?

In my garage... I don't take it out every night at home. If thieves break into my garage I've got much bigger problems than the empeg.
