Anyone have experience with these?

I just bought another car to replace the Trooper and the audio install will be a bit creative. It has a built-in amp that is usable for empeg installation, but it doesn't have RCAs on the factory harness that goes to the OEM head unit. There also isn't an adapter available, and the only way to get the opposite connector would be to demolish the factory head unit.

Instead of lopping-off the factory connector and soldering RCAs on it, would those "tap-ins" work? I assume once you use them, it would be tough to remove them. But at least the factory connector will be intact for when I sell the car.

Those are exactly what I have used on several vehicles, and they seem to be reliable enough for me, even with our seasonal temperature variations. No idea about the "audiophile properties" or lack thereof, though.

Yeah they are OK but nothing special. I've used them once or twice to splice off power.

3M first created them I believe - they called them Scotchlocks.

For a quick and dirty install they should be fine. Note however they cut through a fair amount of the insulation on the original wire. When you remove the install, I'd probably just cut the spliced wire off and leave the connector on the factory wire.
