I'm pretty sure (not certain) that he's referring to the RDS equivalent of the Genre tag.

I've noticed that too, for example 99x should say "New Rock" but instead says "Education" and Z93 should say "Classic Rock" and instead says "Drama". However when those radio stations broadcast an RDS message I can see it on the screen such as "Z93 New Home of the Atlanta Falcons" etc...
