I doubt it, as the proxy setup (that again Starband used) depended on the client piece, as well as the servers on the other side of the connection. The servers at Starband were the ones to quickly grab the HTML, parse it and start grabbing the rest of the pieces to send back. The piece on the client side simply aceepted all the pieces from the server.

The easiest way to tell this was going on was to check the Internet control panel and see what the proxy was set to. Starband showed a 127.0.0.1 proxy, but I can't remember the port. The person I knew with it dumped it a while back in favor of some small town DSL setup that came to his area.
