Yeah, it's so much easier to say that than 'I don't know where the switch is, sorry!' or 'I don't feel like bothering, sorry!'.

I hate when people hide their ignorance or laziness behind their authority.

Of course that might not have been the case, but I'd bet a quarter on it.
