Mac OS Mail has had a deep search since 2004, integrated with the system-wide Spotlight, so you don't even need to be in Mail to find messages. It's a feature I expect in any modern mail client, so it's not something I see as a particular advantage for GMail.

Anyway, I just see GMail as I do every other piece of software from Google, as a half-baked implementation.
