Cut opening in drywall to size. Hot-melt glue wooden cleats to the front/back drywall edges inside the opening, about 1/2" below the opening. Fit a 1/2" thick piece of plywood on top of the cleats to act as a shelf, flush with the bottom of the opening. Sit speaker on shelf, pulled out just proud of the drywall so it looks good. Be happy.
