Remove the antenna booster and it should definately get better.

I have finally opened up the empeg installation (tonight) and removed the empeg supplied antenna amplifier. You're right! Without the booster, reception is much better , but still far from perfect . From the comments elsewhere I'm pretty sure that there is more to be gained by further reducing the RF input as many of the stations that sound distorted, show full strength reception (5 bars) and, despite the apparent signal strength, receive RDS with errors.

I bet there is another RF amplifier somewhere and that the (very) poor reception before was caused by over-amplifying an already amplified signal. I don't have an external antenna: use the BMW pre-wired 'in-the-windshield' antenna hook-up, so I can't reduce the antenna's length and need another way to reduce signal strength

Does anyone have any advice on reducing antenna output? Are there any 'de-boosting' devices, or does anyone know a kludge that I can solder-up that will have the same effect?
