How's this for a practical reason? There is absolutely nothing to be gained by installing a "temporary" copy of win98 onto your machine and still run win95 when you're not updating the empeg. really. win98 has numerious features not found in win95 and if you already have that copy to make a temp install then you've already either paid for it or gotten a pirated version either way you already have win98 so go ahead and use the thing. win2000 i can understand. since win2000 will be based on the winnt core it won't be as compatible as win98 you might(will) lose the ability to play a lot of games and things. but going from win95-win98. I personally don't see any reason for not switching if you're going to use it anyway.

maybe you have some weird compatibility problem, care to explain?
