Hi,

I didn't see an answer to this in the FAQ...

I have a brand-new-out-of-the-box empeg that I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on before I do anything else. I've connected it to the sole serial port on my machine (which usually has my mouse connected to it) with the serial cable included in the box. I'm running a Debian distro with the 2.4.9 kernel.

When I run upgclient, it fails with "empeg unit not found". When I try running "emptool /dev/ttyS0", I get two different behaviours:

1) It checks the connection, and stops, telling me to check the cabling.
2) It sits there with no response to anything I type until I get fed up and hit ^C.

I've checked to make sure gpm isn't running, and that the serial port baud_rate is what the docs say it should be:

> setserial -a /dev/ttyS0
/dev/ttyS0, Line 0, UART: 16450, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4
Baud_base: 115200, close_delay: 50, divisor: 0
closing_wait: 3000
Flags: spd_vhi skip_test

Any suggestions you can give to help me turn this expensive paperweight into a smashing mp3 player would be appreciated.

Thanks.
