I recently lost the power adapter for my Empeg unit and am at a loss for what to do. The back of the unit indicates 11-16VDC which I assume means it can use power sources from 11-16V. I tried a universal adapter at 12 V but the display was choppy (is if the vertical hold was out). Is there something unique about the adapters? Can I purchase a new one from Rio/SB?

I tried a 12v 1Amp RadioShack adapter that caused the display to blank when the drives spun up.

I have 3 of these adapters. They work great.

The adapter you tried probably couldn't provide enough current. You need 1amp (1000mA).

If you're in the US, I have adapters for sale at 15UKP each, including postage. email me.

No, the picture was more like there were phantom images that appeared. I'm thinking the answer might be the current (as suggested by David). The rating on my adapter was 300 mA. Now to find a 1Amp unit...

My old cable modem has a great power adapter. Several other things around my house have donated power supplies that work very well. Just make sure it supplies enough ohmph (around 1A), the right voltage (I've had mine working at 9-10 volts) and the right polarity.

Also make sure it's not AC. That would be bad.

I recently lost the power adapter for my Empeg unit and am at a loss for what to do.

Look here for an inexpensive replacement that many of us on the bbs have purchased and used without problems.

The company is very reliable and ships quickly. Since the shipping costs increase only slightly with additional units, I'd order two or three of them.

Nope. I only have US power supplies left, but can only charge in UK pounds.

Irony is so ironic sometimes.

Is there any particular reason why you guys are using a 13 VDC adapter instead of 12? will a 12 volt adapter work alright or are you saying I'm going to have problems unless I go with a 13 VDC adapter?
