Ever notice how empeg tends to only disk-check when you have 5 minutes left? I think it knows when I'm in a hurry and purposefully disk-checks then:) don't get me wrong, it doesn't check too often, in fact, far less often then the mk1 did, BUT it still checks at the most inopportune times...

How about a "disk check" status led in emplode? Could be green if it's not going to check for a while, orange if it'll check soon, and red if it'll check right then.. that way, I can choose not to sync right before leaving:)

How about asking if we want to do a check on that sync?
a dialog could come up "It has been xxx syncs since the last disk check. Do you want to do this now?"

this could be used in conjunction with an indicator so you can tell its urgency quickly.

I like Murry's idea. There have been times when I have been nervous that it might check the disk.
