Amazon having price problems, or is this for real? Since it's an Apex and doesn't have the best specs in the world, I can't decide if it's a mistake or the actual price. See here

Even the so called HDTV version seems a little cheap.

Apex's cheap price can be explained by the fact that Apex is the first (to my knowledge) Chinese company to enter the TV market, and apparently they can afford to undercut the Japanese, Korean, and American manufacturers. With that in mind, and with just a 1year warranty (2 years on the picture tub) I'd be a little hesitant to jump on this one.

Anyway, my bad experience with one of their DVD players (and the endless hold times to get any kind of support) would keep me out of this deal.

Reviews look good, though.

I have a few of their DVD players and they're OK. "Cheap, with as many features as possible for the price" was what I had in mind when I bought them, and they live up to that statement.

I don't know if I'd ever touch one of their TVs, maybe as a secondary TV for a bedroom or something, but definitely not as my main TV.

I just found the price point interesting.

Apex's projection TVs are made by Changhong in China which claims to be the world's 2nd largest TV manfacturer. I don't know if that makes it sound better to you...

At CES this year Apex had a large booth with lots of nice looking big screens and such. I'm not a home theater expert (I leave my replay on the lowest quality setting, and only notice is when fake static gets all pixelized) but they looked nice to me. Considering what a cheapskate I am when it comes to home theater, I'd probably buy one of these if I was in the market. They do all come out of the same factory in china, after all. With HDTV in such a state of flux, waiting a few years to get the resolution up and the price down on plasma displays is probably a good idea.
