While I was in PA last week, I found a radio station called WYEP. After listening to Clear Channel clones, I was pleased to hear an eclectic mix of bluegrass, 80's rock, alternative, and folk.

Checking their website, I can also stream audio from their site. Since I'm new to streaming, I wondered what else I'm missing. Does anyone have a favorite internet radio station or streaming channel that you would recommend?

See here, particularly my post with the attached M3U. My favorite stream these days is Super Slut Radio (don't let the name fool you) but there are some other good ones in there, too. All of them are WinAMP shoutcast streams.

I feel almost bad for ignoring them (they're local) but really, I don't want to hear bluegrass, alternative or folk.

But I hear you on the Clear Channel clones.

Yah, I understand. Its not to everyone's tastes. I like the fact that they're doing their own thing plus I like the mix. After listening to my Empeg on shuffle for so long, having the Clash followed by Blind Willie Johnson seems natural to me .

Well, yeah, not my thing, but I feel bad for not appreciating them.

90.5 WBER - Rochester, NY

Its one step up from a college station. Its a mix of everything truly alternative (not clear channel alternative). I like the broad range of music - Rob zombie to Ani Defranco. Also, very pbs like limited commercials!

Its only real player :-( but I still use real player 8, so its not too bad.

Obvious Plug Alert!

My old university radio station goes back on the air in September. We'll be streaming in MP3 and Ogg at various bitrates. The important difference this year is that I have a show!

Thanks, I've been listening to it this evening. Sounds like it'll go into my favorites also.
