Further to yesterdays post, I think I'm going with Tomtom Navigator 2 with an iPaq for GPS.

Whats the best new iPaq on the market just now? A large, bright screen with loads of memory (CF/SD) capacity I'm thinking?

The h5550 is probably overkill, what about the h4150?

Unless you really need the 802.11b and Bluetooth, consider the iPaq 1935/45. Same size as the 4150, but cheeper as they lack 802.11b. One other downgrade in this is the processor, to a 200mhz, but that should still be plenty for GPS navigation. Retail on the 1935 is $200 after a $50 rebate. The 1945 is $300, and has bluetooth built in, as well as a larger flash ROM, allowing for larger OS upgrades in the future, or more protected file storage.

On that note I LOVE my 1945.

I got a 1910 (bluetooth yes, 802.11b no) it has the sd and cf slot.
while I like this thing, I don't think I would get another if I lost this one.
you REALLY need to stay on top of the battery, or it'll dump all and you'll start over. not too big of a deal 'cuz you backedup to the cards, but still a drag.
control of the bluetooth is not layed out very well. no real instrucions. I use it as a toy (gps/maps and such...love it!), but if I used this thing for business or really used it for anything important, I would have returned it long ago. I found a lot of people on the forum at the HP site (i think) felt the same way I do.
I use the mapopolis (for the states) and a low-buck ambicomb gps in the cf slot. works well enough and it's a lot of fun (for a newb)
