Anyone here with an Ipod ? - If there is, stay away from Anapod. I happily downloaded the trial edition, read the installation notes, installed the software. No worries, plugged the Ipod in the cradle, and vups - away went all my music. No question asked, nothing. Just an empty Ipod. No trace what so ever of any musicfiles.

This sucks. I don't even care to upload close to 40gb worth of music to it. Just the thought of creating all the playlists again makes me sick. It'll be packed away awaiting my karma.

cheers

Kaare

Just to give a different point-of-view.

I have owned Notmad (the first version of this software that Red Chair produced for the Creative Labs Nomad players) and it has been excellent. I also recommend Anapod to a friend (with an iPod of course) and he hasn't had a single problem with it, he loves it!

You should contact Red Chair software with your problem (you don't mention if you have). Their Tech Support is extremely good.

I used to use XPlay with my iPod (before I sold it), so another vote for XPlay.

My solution was to sell the Ipod and buy a Karma instead. A move that i havn't regreted for a single second.

It dosn't change my view on Anapod or the Ipod which is a misserably device with not yet mature software. Allmost reminds me of the first Win CE handheld devices from Compaq, my god they were awful.

I tried the techsupport, with no help at all. I was told to reformat and try again. And no, i'm not a dumbass with ten thumbs on my hands. I've been working as a network engineer and programmer since 1990.

cheers

Which Tech Support though, and what software isn't mature?

Red Chair Software are not related to Apple.

I've had very little problem with my first gen iPod. Once I had to reset it, but that was just holding down two buttons for about two seconds. Then there's the gap between tracks, but I expected that. I'm not saying that the Karma's not nicer in certain ways, but I've never had any problem playing music on my iPod (the reset was right after a software upgrade or uploading music or some such).

I had issues with my wifes 2nd gen iPod but that turned out to be a problem with my firewire port. Once I'd replaced that and installed iTunes it works fine..

Of course, it's no Karma.

Heh - amusing question. I kind of figured that Red Chair software isn't a part of Apple while browsing their website and the various ipod related forums.

If you must know - i contacted Red Chairs support by email, and it's their software that by far isn't mature.

Actually i never had to reset the Ipod while i had it (2-3 month) - while i've reset my Karma atleast 5-7 times in the last 1-2 month that i've had it. There is no doubt that the Ipod is more stable compared to the Karma, but when thats said the Ipod lacks all the cool features and great sound that makes the Karma a true number one, having to reset it or not. But what really bugged with with the Ipod was the software, damn it sucked - that was why i tried Anapod, Eggpod and what i could get my hands on.

Your post implied otherwise.

Right... I can live without knowing what you did, don't worry. As you give little detail of what actually happened and what they said, in this and your other post, it's hard to make any sensible judgement.

I know a lot of people who bought Notmad Explorer, and I have never heard a single complaint. I've also had a lot of email discourse with Red Chair, and they have always been helpful and courteous in their replies unlike a lot of companies. They are the exception to the rule, not the norm.

Xplay hosed the music database on my mini. The drive showed up as being full but the music database was empty. I had to rerun the installer program from Apple that reformats the drive (or whatever it does).
