Also remember Al Aho (the "A" in awk) was visiting Helsinki aroud the time, so he had put "finland" in his newswire profile. For a couple of weeks there was the occasional item, and then suddenly one morning his mailbox was full... A large number of reindeer got hit by the radiation (they eat moss, and moss absorbs a lot of the stuff), and for a couple of years nobody picked mushrooms or berries in the Finnish woods...
