I set up Jules windows VNC viewer for possible use in my car. I first tried to get it to run in the house using my Windows computer. Everything comes up on the VGA monitor EXCEPT the text for the Song info (both current song and the next song list). I see the proper colors and the song time moves down below. Also, you can see the menu overlay come up and works. Anyone know why the song text may not be coming up. Does it not work on computer screens just TV-out, is it a font issue or something else?

You put notify=1 in the [output] section of config.ini?

Yes, I have notify=1 under [output].
(I forgot to mention that empegVNC works with the unmodified realvnc program. That is I see the display of the empeg being updated realtime like your supposed to.)

With Jule's version I always get an "h" followed by a squre box instead of a song title. I get a "8," followed by a box instead of the artist. I get a "0^" instead of the album and year. Nothing appears in the next list down below.

I don't think Notify=1 will have any effect on the Empeg VNC server if that's what your talking about. The VNC server grabs the screen memory buffer from the Empeg repeatadly. If somethings not showing up it may be a bug in the Empeg VNC server.

Rtundo,

Do you have two hard drives? If so, you need to get the latest version from http://strobos.cee.vt.edu/VNC. The server side, which is the culprit, is also attached here just in case. When I did this I only had one-hardrive Empegs and noticed what you are talking about when I upgraded to two drives. It has been fixed since.

FYI, I have just completed a different application that is not based on VNC (where the state remains in the server). That is much better in all aspects. Check it out at http://strobos.cee.vt.edu/EMSC. I will make an announcement of availability shortly.

Please do let me know if the VNC problem is solved with the attached executable. But EMS&C is much better....

Something else I forgot to add, is that you should have the latest Hijack installed (version 380). There is a range of Hijack versions prior to 380 that broke parts of the VNC server.

I just checked my server and effectively the version that was there just until now, is the one that will only work with Empegs that have one hard drive. Please use the one I attached to the earlier reply, or re-download.

Thnaks for the response Jules. I'll try what you said. I'm just about done mounting everything in the car. Let you know how things go.

By the way yes I do have two drives.
