I have a Pioner SR-90 steering wheel remote that has a near-perfect design in terms of the button layout and operation. The problem is that it generates very complex signals, that are hard to decode consistently and reliably by anything but the Pioneer units for which it was designed. The empeg will not recognize long presses and will often recognize a single press as two successive presses, Lirc will miss matching buttons to codes about 40% of the time, and I assume other tools have problems with it too.

By looking at pictures, I see that the Pioneer SR-80 and SR-100 remotes are identical in appearance and button layout. Question is, do they generate equally complex signals? Has anyone had experience using an SR-80 or SR-100 with the Empeg? Will appreciate comments.

Thanks.
