Is there a way to change the knob mechanical part so its not jumpy? Makes playing break out very hard when it doesnt respond right away. or goes backwards.

Sure.. the software that manages the knob is completely open source, available in the kernel we have today.

We just need someone who wants it BADLY ENOUGH to take the time to redo/fix it.

Sorry was just sitting here playing Brake out and thought I would ask real quick. see if someone had possibly did some hack or something to put in maybe a better one that responded better. Was just curious.

Yes, if you click on the words "grumble grumble" that Ynot posted, you will get a link to the FAQ entry which discusses how do exactly that (which in turn links another thread on the BBS with details).
