I was posting on an NPR discussion on the Empeg board and found that my old/fav NPR station streams their broadcasts in WMA format. Does the Reciever support this format and could it stream these transmisions? I don't think it does but thought I would ask.

The current software doesn't support internet-radio-style streaming broadcasts. However, that is being discussed as a future addition to the software. I don't know if they plan on having it in the next release or not.

If I had broadband 'net access, I'd be very interested in this feature.

Streaming mp3/wma is a feature I plan on adding to the servlet-based host (now in alpha at jreceiver.sourceforge.net) whether or not Empeg gets around to supporting it.

To do this, you'll register a stream (such as a shoutcast station) as a virtual tune using the web client. When the 'tune' is requested by the Rio, the server will buffer the stream to it.

We implemented Shoutcast support ages ago, but it needs some work to bring it to release standard. We're going to revisit the Receiver after Car 2.0.

Just add a Psion Wavefinder (DAB Receiver) and DABBAR, www.dabbar.co.uk and you'll be able to stream digital radio to your RioReceiver without needing a broadband connection !
