How does one open the case of a Rio Receiver? Once I get the screws off of the rear of the unit, the lid is still held in place by the front panel and there doesn't appear to be any way to remove the front panel.

I need to get inside to install a digital out board and power supply, but I don't want to break anything.

I don't remember there being anything special. Just pull the cover back/up after removing the rear screws.

Yeah, you just unscrew the 3 screws along the top, and the one at the bottom of each side. You might need to unscrew the other screw on each side -- they're not actually through the lid, but might be catching it.

Then you just pull the lid back and up.

You make it sound simple, but the case just wasn't coming off. I'm usually very good at taking things apart, but this thing has beaten me so far. I did have all those screws off, but the top was not coming free from the front panel, no matter how hard I tried. I don't know if it matters, but this is a rebadged Dell unit recently purchased at Tigerdirect. Thanks though, I guess I'll try again.

I tried again and it's still not coming off. The case is getting bent out of shape from all the pulling and prying, but it's not coming off. So beats me.

It's simply not easy to get off.

The front sides always seem to stick; there appears to be no way (except the usual brute force & ignorance) to get the lid off. I have no idea how they got them together neatly in the first place, to be honest!

If you have a silver cased one, its not very hard at all. However the black anodized ones for Dell have an additional small lip on the front lower section that makes removing the cover a _serious_ PainInTheA$$.

I used a tiny screwdriver to gently push outwards on the
front lower fascia to make it possible to "pop" the runner
out. Be careful!!

The screwdriver did the trick. Thanks. I'll post updates on the digital out functionality as soon as it gets installed.

Hey no problem. After the first time I took a crack at it I took a break and went gentle like I was working on my Crays.

Let us know how it turns out.
