Since we are getting close to the 1000th registered user on this BBS, should we mark it with a special celebration/prize/surprise award? One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015

Since we are getting close to the 1000th registered user on this BBS...
Y'know, way back when there were maybe 600 users, I was concerned that as the BBS user population grew, the quality of the postings would decline.
But (borrowing a phrase from timwi from about three weeks back) the signal to noise ratio has remained astonishingly high even as the user base increases.
I'm impressed.

It's strange, but 342 of those users haven't even posted once. I don't know if it's an error in the database, or if a certain early upgrade deleted their posts, but that's what the user list says... DiGNAN

Then you've surely read my question and altman's answer to the V1.1.
I think we're gonna have to wait for some more time... TeeMcBee Got my Mk2! # 080000143

Greetings!
The 1000 users makes sense, given the number of empegs sold. Anyone purchasing one would have to be familiar enough with the web to see empeg's site, and probably sign up on this board. Even if it is just to watch for announcements, or to post if they have a question, or to read the FAQ.

Looking at the User List it appears to be:
Username Status Homepage Total Posts ICQ Number Registered on
knarth User 0 12/01/01 02:42 AM
I'm user #127 which is not a very 31337 number at all. I now have user number envy.

Well, the counter still says 1000 users, and according to the userlist, the last person to register was knarth.

Yeah, didn't think of that.... Though it's only all 1's in a 7-bit register. All shall bow down to whoever user #255 is.
