I was finally able to get around to add a second drive to my player last night. I downloaded all the nessesary files and documents, opened up my baby and was ready for the operation. I tested hypertermal, created my .ht file and had it ready. I hook up my player using the serial cable, the NEW drive hooked up and have my power cord on standby. I go to double click on the .upgrader file and I got the message "windows cannot open this file".

Did I miss somthing?
I downloaded the file again thinking it might of been corupted but get the same message using the newly downloaded file.

Please help.

Sounds to me like the .upgrade file association on your machine either doesn't exist, or is broken. You need to right-click on the file and "open with...". When the application list comes up, scan through to see if the empeg upgrader is installed. If yes, tick the "Always use..." box to re-associate it and start work. If no, then re-install emplode which will re-install the upgrader with it.

Before you try blowing this firmware, make sure you have got ONLY the new disk connected and that it is the Master. After the disk is formatted, re-install your original master and jumper the new one as Slave. Then finally re-blow the current version of the player firmware (also a .upgrade file).

Thanks Rob!
That's the ticket.
I had removed emplode and only had jemplode installed on the computer.

I am most definitely aware of this, never the less, thanks for looking out
