I saw a post from alear where he successfully got the track info output to a TV. I was wondering if anyone had any other projects completed or in the works to make this a reality. As I am sure many others have requested, a trunk mounted or glove compartment mounted empeg would be very helpful should we be able to see track info (and obviously menu options, but understandably, that would be difficult) to a remote screen.

There are companies out there (PAC) that create interfaces for cars that have built-in navigation to input Composite or S-Video to their converter box and use the navigation screen for output.

So I guess, the long story short is, does anyone have any converter boards that have Composite or S-Video output of the current track (and menu options if possible, but not totally necessary) available?

Something like this:

Here

Of course it's not available yet and is specifically designed for the Dension player or an IPOD. I'm using a stripped down car computer and empegface to send to my Kenwood video screen. I control the trunk-mounted empeg with a SWI-X. Seems to work pretty good. The only change I'll probably make is to downgrade to 2 final (Too many glitches in 3beta)

I'm working on a small remote display, on and off. It's not done yet, but one piece that I do have working is a "screen scraper" which will output the currently selected menu item to the serial port. By itself it's a ways from a remote display, but it's one necessary piece. I can clean it up and publish it at some point if there is demand for it.

Im also working on a VFD screen connected via Serial. Not quite a video signal, but there is a thread here with a few people doing the same if you havent already seen it.

This thread got me thinking: If the empeg had a simple Video out on the motherboard it would be the perfect MP3 player IMO. But then again near perfect isn't bad.
