Does anyone know of any image viewers for Linux that will create a slideshow out of one or more folders of images and transition between images using the pan and zoom effect made popular by Ken Burns? This is the same effect seen in Apple's image screensaver.

I'm looking for something with as light a footprint as possible - if it can run without a GUI that would be even better. I'd like to set the machine to fire this up when started (via a script for instance).

Should support at minimum, JPEG images of any resolution (and scale to fit as per the whole zoom effect).

dvd-slideshow, as long as you're not looking for real-time output.

SmoothSlideSaver seems to do it, but is a KDE screensaver, rather than a standalone app.

Actually, GLSlideshow from the xscreensaver package does it, too. That can be run standalone as well as as a screensaver.

I'll look into that. I want to pick up a cheapy notebook next month (no more than $100 plus shipping for 10-12" LCD) and make an LCD picture frame for my parents.
