i had these tickets sent through this shipping service from the U.K. in manchester to be sent to my house in the sf bay area, usa. the package was supposed to arrive yesterday at 10am PST and has not arrived.

this service is a neutral party type of thing where the seller gives the package to TNT, the buyer gives the money to TNT, then TNT sends the package to the buyer. when i am satisfied i release the money from the TNT agent to give to the seller.

their station where i sent the money is located here:
Manchester Depot
419 Bury New Road
Manchester
M25 1AA

here is the website: http://globalfreight-tpg.com/en_lang/index/details.html

Has anyone used this process or did i get tricked into something my instincts should have steered me away from?

Just hoping some one from manchester or the u.k. minght have heard of this.

I'm not familiar with this particular service, but TNT is certainly an above-board company. I've worked for companies that have used them for, IIRC, LTL shipping. Sounds like the worst scenario is that you don't get your stuff but you get your money back. Is TNT unable to track the package?

their only tracking is telling me that they have my payment. check here: http://globalfreight-tpg.com/en_lang/index/65528795.html

i am hoping to get my money back but i have not received a reply e-mail since i e-mailed them a day ago. it seems if the only form of communication is e-mail they should be quicker in replying.

thanks for the input.

Sure looks like a scam to me. The top level of that domain redirects to tnt, but that's the only connection. The whois details are made up addresses. It's listed in a database as being a scam.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. I hope you didn't pay too much for the tickets.

The street address of the website administrator (216-1/2 10th Avenue, Seattle) appears to be a tree, according to Google Earth...

Without sounding like too much of a nerd, that address you have there is a royal mail sorting office. I drive past it most nights, there are likely to be PO boxes on site. From personal experience TNT have depots in Ramsbottom and Trafford park. Parcelforce probably operate from that address though.

Interesting, the number is a valid TNT consignment number, but evidently not your package...

http://cgi.tnt.co.uk/trackntrace/conenquiry.asp?ACTION=TRACK&TYPE=C&QUERY=65528795

TNT is www.tnt.com...

I've used them a lot. Good folks, if a little too diligent in notifying customs...

I could go kick the tree's ass if that would help.

If you edit the "tracking" number you'll find that its actually a static HTML page that somebody slapped up there and not a proper tracking system.

So, where did you buy the tickets from? I'm confused now.

Are the ticket genuine and the shipping fake or is the whole thing a rip off ?

I was just thinking if the tickets are still in Manchester we could help you out.

Cheers

Cris.

PS - I have dropped a quick line to TNT to see if they can do anything. I guess they will want that website shutting down ASAP.

The entire thing is fake. The scam is somebody wants to sell <desirable item> but to make it "secure" for the buyer, they're going to use an escrow service. The theory being that they send the goods to the service, you send your money to the service and then it'll do a swap for you. The dodgy bit is that the escrow service is actually fake and run by themselves. The extra twist in this case is that they're advertising in the US but saying they're in the UK.

I'm sorry to hear that, sounds like you will need to contact VISA etc...

Take a copy / print out of the website, just in case you need it, I never thought of that when I reported it, sorry.

Cheers

Interesting, I just browsed to that site and Firefox informed me it was a scam.
