I'd love to be able to download a kernel patch that would allow me to turn my player upside down in the car and see all the visuals right side up and have the track buttons work in the correct direction (though this would screw up the shock absorption I'm sure).

The problem is that we yanks get used to the volume control on the left side of the radio.

don't know you could be real brave and see if the drive cradle could be inverted you might need to drill a few holes

or you could try out my favorite the pioneer remote that works fine in an A4 as that is what Lars has got and he is left hand drive probably alot easier than strange kernals

The kernel driver already allows this, as a prototype of something else had upside-down screen mounting.

I think you can probably find it somewhere in the comments - there are 2 assembler routines, one for the right way round and the other for inverted.

Fantastic, I'll do a little research into that and see what I can find, thanks!

That would be very tough on the hard drives, and would probably result in disconnected shock mounts (and hence a freely floating disk tray) sooner or later.
