when I first got the beta 7 the seek tool would have a kind of graph on the screen after playing a song for the first time

now I just get a line like a cursor on the left side of the screen I can still ff through a track using the knob but there is no graph

I the onlything I did was install Hijack then reinstall the beta 7 Hijack appears to be gone I don't get the menu after holding down the knob anymore

anyone else have this problem ?

This has nothing to do with hijack. The seek tool itself is dodgy and occasionally slips into a mode where it doesn't update the graph. I have no idea why it goes away, and I have no idea what makes it come back, but I've seen this as well.

As for why you're not getting a hijack menu, you said you "reinstalled the beta 7"... Do you mean you re-did the beta7 upgrade? If you do that, it erases the Hiajck kernel and replaces it with a stock beta7 kernel. You have to do the beta7 upgrade first, THEN flash the Hijack kernel.

If you already did that, then I have no idea why you're losing your hijack menu.

There appear to be some tracks that the seek tool simply doesn't like.

I'm not saying it does or doesn't have anything to do with hijack I was just posting the history of what I did because whenever someone has a problem everyone always wants to know what they have done to the player recently

I am not trying to get the hijack menu I had another unrelated earlier when I had hijack installed and reinstalled the beta 7 to try to fix it and it worked after that so I didn't put hijack back on

Those would most likely be VBR tracks with incorrect timecode tags (e.g. uploaded by an older version of emplode).

This is receiving some thought for the next release.

the one I had the problem with today was 192 kbps uploaded with the beta 7 emplode to empeg mk2a with beta 7. the file is a 106 meg concert taping

it seems like something got screwed up because seek tool worked ok the player would just freeze sometimes when I used it but now it doesn't work on any of the tracks

I have another interesting issue with the seek tool - on powering up into info display in the car, if I change to seek tool within about 2 minutes it causes a reboot and then all works fine. If I wait longer than 2 minutes it goes into seek tool correctly. Does it take a while to initialise??

I think the 2 minutes may be a red herring.

All known bugs with the seek tool have been fixed ready for the next release. Please hold fire on seek tool bugs (unless they are completely new bugs) until the next release.
