Anyone ever try one of the Blaupunkt Thummer remotes with an Empeg/RioCar? I think they look much nicer than the Kenwood or Pioneer, the Sony IR is HUGE (and possibly incompatible), and the Sony wired is unobtainable (since it requires a tuner module). So I saw these and they look cool.

I bet I could work up a HiJack translation table for 'em... Any opinions?

I haven't seen any reports on the BBS yet if these work or not. In order to work, they'll need to use the same carrier frequency that the Empeg's IR sensor is using, which IIRC is 38 Khz.

Test it out first... Bring your Empeg to the shop with Hijack installed and use the Button Codes display to make sure you pick up some kind of codes coming in. Then the IR Trans is simple.

If you get it, let us know how it works for you!

Tried it. Doesn't work. It's too bad because I used to have a Blau head and I really liked the Thummer.

Didn't work? Not on the same carrier frequency, or was it something else?

I assume that was it. Using Hijack to monitor, it simply didn't recognize IR signals from the Thummer while it did register the signals from other remotes.

Last time someone reported this, they had the battery upside-down in the remote. Are you sure the remote works on a Blau head unit? It its battery good?

Reasonable question... It worked on the Blau HU before I had it removed a couple days prior to my test.

One more question.. Did you have the Thummer or the new ThummerIII/RC-09? The literature seems to say they use a different protocol, I'm wondering if they might have changed carrier frequencies too..

Reasonable question.

I guess you could check the part numbers... If that doesn't work, I dunno. I guess I could get off my lazy duff and go down to the local dealer and just try it out myself...

P/N (Thummer III™): F00E500013 (black), 7607567518 (red), 7607567512 (blue), 7607567515 (yellow)
P/N (RC09): 7 607 590 510
P/N (Thummer System): F00E500008

I have a Blaupunkt Casablanca and ThummerIII/RC-09. Tested w/ HiJack, but got no response from Hijack button code screen.

The RC-09 would be a great remote as it uses a switch for changing modes b/w HU and Navigation unit. This gives a Empeg only installation something like 18 buttons (9x2) available. With Blau HU and Empeg, you'd have 9 for HU and 9 for Empeg.

Anybody know the signal freq. for Blau Thummers?

That bums me out. It's the only SW-mount remote control that looks cool enough for my car....

Absolutely. A BBS search should turn up hundreds of posts regarding the Pioneer CD-SR70, SR77, and SR80 remotes.

Search, and you shall be shown the Truth

Yes, it is compatible. See here for Hijack IR code translation table.
