How about a totally clear front panel? Might reduce contrast a bit in sunlight but it would light up the car at night!

I'm all for it! I love clear things like phonez and stuff and who gives about contrast...bright up my life!

Unfortunately it wouldn't be totally clear because the EMC layer would still be needed (that's the bit that stops radio emissions getting out and messing up our FCC and CE approvals). The IR filter would also still be needed to stop sunlight washing out the remote control.

In any case, I've seen an empeg with a clear front panel and it looks kinda crap :)

Ok, so I assume some kind of film can stop those emissions. How about a dark grey/black?
