We think we've found the problem with the buttonfix2 interim upgrade that caused all IR and buttons to stop working after a random amount of time.

Buttonfix3 is available at http://www2.empeg.com/upgrades/test/interim/ - please try it and let us know if it helps.

Hmm, no responses. :-(

Do I take this to mean that:

a) The bug isn't affecting anyone any more with beta10a.

b) This upgrade fixes it and everyone is happy.

c) This upgrade doesn't fix it either.

d) I made a mistake when uploading the file and noone has been able to download it.

I think I'll take b) unless anyone can tell me different :-)

How about e) No one ever checks the BBS on the weekends?

Hmm, but the post has been here for over a week with no response.

f) Hasn't happened since I installed the patch; but it's only been a few days, so it's too soon to tell.

Cripes, I hadn't realized the original post was a week old. I thought it was new as of this weekend.

I'll confess that I haven't installed that upgrade file because I haven't had any trouble with the front panel buttons in a long time and was happy with 10a.

I haven't had much trouble with runaway volume until this weekend!
Twice in one day!! No dramas though, I knew exactly what to do once I noticed it.

I'll try the upgrade now tho!

I just experienced a "run-away" button type of glitch this past weekend but it seemed to be more of a physical condition rather then software related. The top button on my empeg seemed to become stuck when I pressed it in. Tapping on it a few times released it but it happened again a few times after that. Seems to be okay today (so far). I removed the face plate to see if something was interfering but everything looked okay to me.

Is this what everyone is talking about?

No, Scott. The problem you're talking about was probably caused by the faceplate being screwed on too tightly. You can search the BBS for many posts about this issue, but some of the players coming out of Cambridge had one or two screws in a little bit too tight, causing a button or two to stick. The problem Empeg Ltd. is(was) working on recently is deeper into the electronic hardware.

Or

f) The update came while the unit was at empeg being repaired, and the owner was away on vacation and hasn't had time to update it yet.

I'll apply it, as I had the sticky button problem, then the no control bug. Hopefully this one won't change to "Display flips upsidedown" :-)

I applied the update and the bug didn't happen to me since. This was two days ago, before it happened roughy 2 times a day on a one hour drive, so very often.

Will keep you informed after another couple of days. Good work! Thanks a lot, J.

You are good guys. It didn't happen to me once since I had installed the patch. This is now since a week. Thanks a lot! J.
