Well, after Miami, after customs office in Chile where they didn't know what to do with it (as usual), I got My Rio Car.
I'm delighted The feel of the buttons is soo perfect. The case is so well-built. Everything looks so good. The Fascia is really fantastic! Heh, I was a critic of the Mk2 design. now i'll have to eat my hat.
On the other side, as it is an american product , it came with a cute tiny power adapto, prpbably that one missing in some of the recent units. Well, it could have been missing here too, because it's useless for me. Here in Chile it's 220V/60Hz. So, heads on to the Radio Shack store to get an alternative.
Still, I'm more than delighted.

Reggie -happiest guy in the wolrd, Mk2a 20 Gb (S/N 030102316), all colours, AND tuner.

You may want to post the power adapter up for sale in the "For Sale" forum. Some people might want a spare. No sense tossing it in the trash!

Congratulations on the new player!

Mmmh how much is it worth really? because shipping from Chile to USA, even for a small package like this one, would be expensive, in regards of its size and cost...

It may be more valuable than you think. It is much more compact than the adapter Empeg used to give and the replacement brick SonicBlue sells.

Agree that shipping is probably uneconomical. Probably cheaper for anyone in U.S. needing a spare to get one of the surplus Qualcomm units from All Electronics ($6.95, I think. Assuming they're still available). FYI, the Qualcomm will also handle 220v for those overseas road trips.

You could use the little U.S adapter as a conversation starter at parties, hang a budgie cage with it, or, depending on what Radio Shack can do for you plug-wise, splice it to another 220v adapter.

Congratulations!

(edit: just checked. the Qualcomm is still listed on allelectronics.com. Listed as: Qualcomm # TAACA0035. DC coax power plug, 2.1mm I.D., 5.5mm O.D., center positive. Wall plug style. CAT# PS-131 Your Price: $6.50 each)

We should have a little "Accessories" section at RioCar.org that has links to the Custom lenses, the custom facias (wood and hopefully aluminum), power supplies, carrying cases, USB cables (?), cheap hard drives, or what have you... Actually, I guess that list could go on and on and on with AirPorts and the like... nevermind! :P

Well let's see... with 10GB empegs going on ebay for $500+, and tuners at $250 and climbing... I'd say put it on ebay with a Buy It Now price of $125 and see what happens.

Well, I just bought one of those 110V/220V adapters. So I'm using now both the original power adapter and my new one. Pretty bulky. When I'll travelwith the empeg it will be more noticeable.

If I remember well, you have many classical tunes on you empeg. Let me tell you: when hooked to my home stereo (not a very fine one), Beethoven's Ninth Symphony directed by Karajan (yes , one of those Karajan Gold collections) encoded at 256 kbps sound pretty good. Now that I really own one of these I'm beginning to really understand all that almost religious fanatism...
My Peugeot install will be a tough one. Have you guys heard of multiplexed data buses? it makes everything much more difficult... still, I don't miss my Golf. The 307 is such a good car...
