Dim rhyfel mewn ein enw ni
Na rhyfel na tawelwch
Dydyn ni ddim defaid
Dydyn ni ddim blaidd
Mae heddwch pawb ein calon ni

Okay, this was in the .sig lines from a recent email I received from Alan Cox. What the heck is it, and what does it mean??

Thanks!

Not that I speek welsh, but I am bored and a little googling turns up a few of things...

rhyfel means 'war'
tawelwch means 'silent'
Dydyn ni ddim defaid = 'we/they are not wolves'
Dydyn ni ddim blaidd = 'we/they are not sheep'
calon seems to mean 'pure' or 'honest'
pawb means 'everybody'
heddwch is a place

So by filling in the blanks something like this...

No war ...
The war is silent
We are not wolves
We are not sheep
everybody in heddwch is pure

I wonder if that is even close

My wife is Welsh, though she would admit that her Welsh isn't perfect as she doesn't get to speak and read it much. Here is her attempt at translation:

No war in our name
When there is war there is no peace
We are neither sheep nor wolves
And have everyone's peace in our hearts

Mmm.. good translation that.

Two more:

"Dych i'n siarad Cymraeg ?"

(my guess is, "do you understand Welsh?").

To which I will likely need to reply (in Welsh):

"No, I do not understand Welsh, nor the Welsh."

Thanks!
