My entire front lawn is dead. Last year I got the grass filled in and none of it survived the winter it's all gray.

Anyone have any experience with this ? Like can I just till it all in or do I need to remove the dead grass first ? I think I need to till it like crazy and add a ton of compost the dirt is very hard. I should probably do some kind of soil test too I guess.

It is annoying to see grass growing in the ditches with no help and it won't grow in front of my house.
