I asked on the Lame mailing list about the stuff that Lame puts into the INFO tag to indicate how much padding is added to its MP3s, with a view to enabling seamless playback of files that weren't encoded using --nogap. I was pointed to a URL (below), which I can't read until our proxy admins unblock it. It might be useful if the player software would read it and discard the correct number of samples at the beginning and end of the file to give automatic seamless playback.
