I must admit, I don't really see the humor here, but it’s obvious he isn't trying to be serious. The comparison stuff to movies like "willow" makes that clear (I'm surprised he miss O-Bi-Wan as a Gandalf character in Star Wars). I do recall read “movie reviews” from a few people who earnestly stated that Tolkien "borrowed" his story lines from Robert Jordan. Another person said that Tolkien's work was based on "the cartoon of the same title done in the sixties." It's one of those "keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you're a fool, or open it up and prove it" kind of things.
